Immigrant Resource Center

With more immigrants coming to the US from Cape Verde than ever before, we partner with other emigrant-serving organizations in Cape Verde, the Consulate General of Boston, and members of the Cape Verdean Providers network, to reach as many people as possible prior to their arrival in the US to provide important information to help with their transition.

Collective learning over the past 14 years ensure our programs offer best practice, culturally competent services for the Cape Verdean community for newly arrived immigrants and those that need continued support around education and health services, and a transition into the workforce. We also encourage clients to get involved with our work and become a change agent for the community.

Upon arrival in the US, the Immigrant Resource Center provides an eight week program to help assimilate into a new culture. Key components of the program include:

  • Weekly orientation and ESOL classes
  • Citizenship classes
  • Workshops and voter registration efforts
  • Creole classes

Other services and resources around health and education are offered in partnership with the Cape Verdean Provider Network. The program is held three times a year and child care support is provided.

A representative from the Cape Verdean Consulate is at the Immigrant Resource Center on Wednesdays from 10am to 5pm to provide support and answer questions if needed.
